Gary Hansen joined the UCSB Department of Mechanical Engineering in 2003 after 15 years on the University of Washington faculty. Past positions include visiting research professor at Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo, vice president of marketing for Auto-Train Corporation, special assistant to the Office of the Secretary at the U.S. Department of Commerce, and industry specialist for the Cost of Living Council.
